Who are we?

Our mission is to scale intelligence to serve humanity. We’re training and deploying frontier models for developers and enterprises who are building AI systems to power magical experiences like content generation, semantic search, RAG, and agents. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI.

We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. We like to work hard and move fast to do what’s best for our customers.

Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are passionate about their craft. Each person is one of the best in the world at what they do. We believe that a diverse range of perspectives is a requirement for building great products.

Join us on our mission and shape the future!

About the role

We’re looking for a Staff Writer to help shape the next chapter of Cohere’s story — and the voice of the brand itself. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned writer who can move fluidly between the worlds of brand storytelling, marketing, and UX content design. You’ll help define how our platform sounds and feels, from the smallest interface detail to the biggest brand moments.

As an early hire on the centralized content team, you’ll play a key role in shaping our culture, systems, and standards. You’ll partner closely with design, marketing, and product to create language that’s clear, human, and distinctive, as well as help people understand the power of private, enterprise AI.

What you’ll do
  • Write across a wide range of surfaces: product interfaces, websites, campaigns, documentation, and long form.

  • Translate complex AI concepts into language that’s accessible, engaging, and grounded in value for target industry audiences.

  • Help maintain and evolve our UI terminology ecosystem, style guides, and voice documentation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Design, Product Marketing, Growth, Legal, etc.) to ensure consistency and clarity across every touchpoint.

  • Contribute to creative ideation for brand campaigns, product launches, and more.

  • Advocate for high-quality writing and user-centered thinking throughout the company.

  • Help shape team rituals, tools, and content governance as we continue to grow.

What we’re looking for
  • 8–10+ years of professional writing experience across brand, marketing, or UX — ideally with time spent in a mix of all.

  • A portfolio that demonstrates versatility: you can write crisp, intuitive UI copy as easily as you can craft a compelling campaign headline.

  • Proven ability to distill complex or technical information into clear, confident language.

  • Experience building or contributing to content systems. Think: terminology glossaries, style guides, or content pattern libraries.

  • Collaborative spirit and comfort working with designers, engineers, and marketers alike.

  • Curiosity about AI, emerging technology, and how language shapes human-computer interaction.

  • A proactive, low-ego approach: you’re as happy writing and editing as you are ideating.

Bonus points
  • Experience at a fast-growing tech company or software brand.

  • Background in journalism, creative writing, or human-computer interaction.

  • Familiarity with accessibility and internationalization best practices.

  • A great sense of humor.

If some of the above doesn’t line up perfectly with your experience, we still encourage you to apply!

We value and celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive work environment for all. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal opportunities. Should you require any accommodations during the recruitment process, please submit an Accommodations Request Form, and we will work together to meet your needs.
