Job Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris company, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support IR&D projects.
The Project Management Senior Specialist will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering director and will assist in managing a cross-functional team and suppliers through the project lifecycle. The Aerojet Rocketdyne segment has a collection of manufacturing advancement projects aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes through the investigation of unique and novel alternatives. The selected IR&D ideas are prioritized based on their quantifiable impact to Return-To-Green (RTG) activities, de-risking process development driving capital expenditures and overall advancement of common process in rocket motor manufacturing. The project manager will act as a focal point for IR&D projects and lead cross-functional teams by managing scope, resources, funding, and schedule. The position requires understanding of cross-functional dependencies, financial strategy, good technical acumen, and ability to effectively communicate to executive leadership.
Essential Functions:
- Planning, execution, and delivery of IR&D projects with a focus on Industry 4.0 and process optimization, on budget and schedule, ensuring they align with the organization's strategic vision and tangible business results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business requirements and priorities.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and manage resources to ensure successful project execution within established constraints.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track and within budget and schedule.
- Communicate project status, milestones, and key insights to senior management and stakeholders, providing regular updates and recommendations.
- Proven experience in project management
- Experience in manufacturing processes, preferably in aerospace and defense industry
- Proven ability to develop business cases and performing Return on Investment (ROI) analyses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in project management and managing cross-functional teams.
- Experience accelerating delivery dates for administrative deliverables.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- PMP certification is preferred but not required
- Experience with earned value management and risk management is preferred.
Background in Engineering and/or technical development is preferred
L3Harris has committed to providing funding for Manufacturing Infrastructure, Architecture, Modernization & Integration (MIAMI) through IR&D. We have not historically staffed for these projects, and do not have excess bandwidth to accomplish IR&D project goals.

The Missile Solutions operations sector has a collection of manufacturing advancement projects aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes through the investigation of unique and novel alternatives.
