The Role
Role Description

As Sr. Mgr, Strategic FP&A you will bring deep financial expertise and a strategic, outward-looking perspective to our Dropbox FP&A function. You will play a key role as we transform our FP&A function into a driver of shareholder value by driving improving our corporate modeling, our S-Team and Board messaging, and our integration with Investor Relations.

You will play a crucial part in determining Dropbox’s financial future. You’ll get substantial senior leadership exposure as you work with our CEO, CFO, VP of Finance and leaders across the business to quantify and improve our plan to deliver financial outcomes.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Sr. Manager, Strategic FP&A will will elevate the quality and strategic impact of our financial planning and analysis function by taking an investor and Board-member perspective. This role is designed to drive incremental value through the overhaul of key FP&A outputs and models, ensuring that our financial communications and long-range planning are not only internally robust but also resonate with external stakeholders. You will bring thought leadership and business partnering to senior executives in the Finance organization and across Dropbox as you create and own key strategic outputs

Responsibilities

Bar Raiser for FP&A Outputs:

  • Edit, refine, and continually improve essential FP&A deliverables intended for S-Team and Board of Directors (BOD) review (e.g., Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Financial Quarterly Updates (FQUs), etc.).

FP&A Model Overhaul and Audit:

  • Conduct rigorous audits and comprehensive overhauls of our corporate FP&A models, ensuring that they are optimized for an investor and external stakeholder perspective.

Primary Document Owner for Ad Hoc Documents:

  • Assume full responsibility for drafting, reviewing, and finalizing key ad-hoc S-Team and BOD documents. Take ownership of ad-hoc documents that address emerging opportunities or issues, bringing an external, investor-oriented perspective.

Strategic Analysis:

  • Continually assess our long-range planning from a shareholder perspective, identifying risks and opportunities that can drive shareholder value.
  • Surface and integrate both qualitative and quantitative insights to align on strategic initiatives and decision-making.

Cross-Functional Integration:

  • Serve as the critical liaison between the FP&A team and Investor Relations, ensuring that financial insights, risks, and opportunities are effectively communicated and leveraged.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to incorporate external, shareholder-focused insights into business planning and financial reporting.

Leadership in FP&A Team Growth:

  • Be a bar-raiser across the organization, participating in interview loops and mentoring the FP&A team to maintain a high standard of excellence.
  • Ensure that as we scale, the FP&A function evolves from a business partnering and KTLO (Keep the Lights On) role to one that proactively shapes our strategic direction from an external perspective.

Supporting Investor and Earnings Call Preparation:

  • Participate in preparing key Q&A materials and support initiatives around earnings calls, ensuring that all financial communications align with our overall strategic vision and shareholder value creation.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of Finance experience, in roles of increasing responsibility within an equity research function, or in a corporate role with focus on taking the investor mindset
  • Background in SaaS or technology industries
  • Superb analytical/quantitative skills and strong executive presence 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior management, large/small groups and one-on-one
  • Flawless attention to detail and ability to consistently generate a high quality work product is critical as group analysis is presented to C-level management on a regular basis
  • Extensive experience modeling corporate-level financials and maintaining an investor view of company financials
  • Strong influencing skills; assertive without being antagonistic or alienating; ability to work in a collaborative and team-centric culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to PLG companies similar to Dropbox
  • Experience preparing materials for consumption by senior leadership / board / investor audiences
