Calix is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager with a strong background in building cybersecurity products to lead and grow our threat intelligence team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on understanding and monitoring the ever-changing contemporary landscape of cyber threats and developing and evolving our solutions to protect, inform, and educate the people and businesses within the communities we serve.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, grow, and manage a team of software engineers and threat researchers focused on threat intelligence and evolving the threat detection and prevention capabilities of our platform.
- Be a combination of a highly technical hands-on leader and an effective people manager.
- Proactively monitor current and emerging cyber threats to learn, assess risk, and propose detection, prevention, and remediation actions.
- Identify, propose, and build tools and automation that drives development efficiency and quality.
- Research, prototype, and develop advanced cybersecurity features aimed at protecting millions of homes and businesses.
- Communicate and collaborate across functions and drive engineering initiatives to meet organizational objectives, establishing a world-class network threat intelligence and prevention team.
- Work effectively with partners and third-party data and services to drive quality and delivery efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience as hands-on technical leader of high-performing teams building cybersecurity products.
- 5+ years developing software in C for high-performance real-time networking products.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with linux networking fundamentals.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in network traffic processing, deep packet inspection, regex, and platform software development.
- Experience with cloud-managed secure internet gateway products.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desired Skills:
- Deep experience with IDS/IPS, anti-virus, and web content filtering technology.
- Deep understanding and experience with CVEs, IOCs, snort and yara rules.
- Up to date knowledge of current challenges and emerging approaches that utilize AI/ML for threat detection and prevention.
- Expert level understanding and experience working with L2-L7 protocol details.
- Highly organized and exceptional oral and written communication ability.
