This position within Corporate Infrastructure and Security will be based in Costa Rica or Mexico.

Data Protection is vital at Thermo Fisher Scientific, ensuring that our business-critical data is available and safeguarded from data loss and corruption. You will help define and lead our strategy, maintain the tools, and work with business partners to ensure data protection is secure and efficient for critical systems and processes.

• Represent the team as an SME on projects, which includes but is not limited to discovery, assessments, pricing/quoting, design, documentation, etc.
• Mentor and train team members.
• Develop strategies for installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation for various backup technologies in a multi-site multi-vendor backup environment.
• Participate in recovery testing and auditing to validate that data can be recovered from backups.
• Participate in weekly on-call support within a “follow the sun” model, which includes weekend rotations.
• Work closely with customers and cross-teams to communicate the root cause of outages or disruptions and recommend steps to resolve issues.
• Resolve incidents and problems in accordance with set guidelines and meet operational agreements.
• Implement change requests and complete projects within defined guidelines.
• Achieve and understand Service Level commitments for all open systems platform.
• Document processes and maintain a knowledge base for Data Protection.

• A minimum of 2+ years of higher education, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study.

• 5+ years knowledge of data protection hardware/software (Veeam (preferred/required), knowledge of Avamar, Data Domain, Druva is a plus).
• 2-4 years of experience with Hypervisors, Windows & Linux operating systems, Cloud Infrastructure.
• Good experience with IT processes and best recommendations related to backup, recovery and disaster recovery.
• Experience in highly regulated environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Superb communication and documentation skills.
