Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist will support cross-functional teams in the setup and qualification of new materials, manage site and supplier allocations, and ensure cost and quality objectives are met. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison among suppliers, company sites, and key internal stakeholders to resolve issues, drive execution, and support business objectives.
Essential Functions
New Materials & Qualification
- Support all requirements from T&D and Product Stewardship for new material requirement set up
- Work closely with T&D and Operations for new material qualification, acting as the bridge between Huhtamaki and suppliers to ensure qualification success
Supplier & Site Management
- Manage site allocations to ensure we are hitting supplier commitments and cost objectives
- Track monthly material volumes vs allocations and report findings to relevant teams
- Drive execution and follow up with sites to forecast material usage and ensure adherence to plans
- Follow up on outstanding orders and resolve routine supplier issues with delivery or documentation.
Market Analysis & Quality
- Conduct market research through available tools and provide insights to the team on current industry trends, pricing, and new suppliers.
- Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including alternative sourcing options when necessary.
- Act as liaison between the supply base and the company to resolve quality issues efficiently
Cost & Budget Management
- Analyze spending and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance for management review.
Documentation & System Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement files, including contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and correspondence.
- Assist with contract administration, including collecting and organizing documents.
- Enter purchasing data into ERP or procurement systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and generate routine procurement reports for management review.
Compliance & Policy Adherence
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit requests by providing necessary documentation.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to follow up and hold responsible parties accountable to deadlines and deliverables
- Excellent prioritization skills with keen attention to detail
Preferred
- Background in paperboard or related industries
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management
Environment
- In office 4 days per week. Work hours are usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but could require after-hours and weekend work to complete projects on time
- Travel as needed; up to 10% - 20%
