Software Engineer

Amentum is now hiring for several Software Engineer (All Levels) positions in support of the Field, Lab and Air Integration / Experimentation / Modeling and Risk Reduction (FLAIR) office at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD and other locations. This project will provide the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Research (C5ISR) Center services to include programmatic/business management services, engineering support services, field engineering, laboratory, logistics, and acquisition / administrative support services to augment FLAIR core Government personnel and turn-key solutions to support the missions of FLAIR and its associated Managers and customers. This support will be conducted in close coordination with Government project leads within FLAIR.

The candidate will perform the following duties:

• Develops, researches, designs, implements, tests, and evaluates software and systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, that enable computers to perform their applications, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Excludes paraprofessional positions.

• Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

• Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.

• Formulates and designs software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

• Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.

• Consults with customer concerning maintenance of software system.

• May coordinate installation of software system.

• Troubleshoots and develops technical solutions related to software and setup errors for field engineers, technicians, and customers.

• Creates workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensures issues are resolved in a timely fashion.

• Escalates urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources.

• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

• Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• Performs a variety of tasks.

• Works under general supervision.

• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required.

• 1-10+ years of experience.

• 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

• Must have an Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a TOP SECRET Clearance. 

Compensation:

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $250,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.).
