About the Team
The Ecosystem team’s goal is to connect Firebolt with third-party tools and products. We’re responsible for developing and maintaining drivers and third-party connectors. Our tech stack includes Python, Java, Go, JavaScript and .NET. We develop drivers for all those languages, as well as connectors to tools like Tableau, Sisense and Metabase.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer on the Ecosystem team your primary role will be to take ownership of Firebolt’s Python-based connectors, while also contributing to the development and maintenance of other drivers and connectors in additional languages (Go, Java, JavaScript, .NET) as project needs arise.
What you'll do
- Take a key role in the Ecosystem team, owning Firebolt’s connectors and SDKs
- Build and maintain integrations that make Firebolt work seamlessly with data and analytics tools
- Contribute to the design and implementation of drivers and connectors in other languages (Go, Java, JavaScript, .NET)
- Make technical decisions and create design proposals to support new database features
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure ecosystem components evolve alongside Firebolt's database engine
Requirements
Minimum qualifications
- BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of proven experience as a professional developer of production software
- Experience with Python in production environments
- Experience working with databases and a solid understanding of SQL
- Interest in designing and developing database drivers and connectors
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD systems
- Experience developing or maintaining Python libraries or SDKs
- Experience working with Python packaging and build tools (eg. Poetry, setuptools, or similar).
- Experience integrating with ETL/ELT tools or third-party APIs
