Job DescriptionThe Site Project Manager (Site PM) is part of the Program team. Acting as the local representative of Smiths Detection, he/she supports the Program Manager in charge of a large infrastructure program from the beginning of the program untll the hand-over of the full solution to the service team.
Based in the field he /she is responsible for defining and setting the most appropriate organization (process, local site team, tools, offices, security, etc), in order to perform the installation of large infrastructure programs.
Acting as a local representative of Smiths Detection, he/she liaises with the customer (under the direction of the Program Manager) and local authorities.
With strong organizational and management expertise, he/she has the full responsibility of the coordination and of the planification of all site works (installation, training, logistic, acceptance).
Main duties :
People and Talent Management:
- Effective leadership and development of a team of local technicians
- Ensuring disciplined planification of local tasks
- Working closely with the Program Manager to ensure alignment of the site goals and activities, implement best practice
Third party management:
- Make sure partners and third party (local suppliers) deliver according to the committed scope
- Good interaction with internal stakeholder to ensure the delivery on time of the committed scope
Program Management:
- Accountable for the initiating, planning, monitoring & controlling, communicating and close-out local activities within the program
- Lead the site activities with the support of cross-functional teams to achieve successful completion of the program
- Execute local activities in accordance with the standardised business rhythm that coordinates the activities of program management
- Accountable for ensuring that local program costs stays within the budget. Perform the associated reporting
- When required, act as a Deputy for the Program Manager on site.
- Attend Program meetings and provide expected inputs (planning, risks, progress, KPI, finance)
Africa- specific duties:
- Fluent in French & good professional level in English
- Relevant experience of the African countries (culture, management, ethic)
- Able to set and organize, from scratch a new site
- Liaise with Service team, in order to set a local team able to perform the maintenance activities
- Set the right level of security and safety
Commercial:
- Able to liaise with local authorities, from top level to operational level
- Recognized by the customer as a trust partner
- Able to protect Smiths Detection contract, position
Policies and Procedures:
- Ensure compliance with company policies for Ethics, Health, Safety and Environment.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Educational requirements and Knowledge :
- Master’s degree in technic or management (Bac+3 or professional equivalency)
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Africa.
Skills :
- Strong experience in management.
- Relevant knowledge in logistic, civil works
- Strong capacity in organization
- Budget follow-up
- Ability to communicate complex concepts
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage critical projects with tight deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills in both English and French are essential
