Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Subcontract Management Team (SMT) - Responsible Engineer (RE). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Takes direction from SMT Lead and SLP-A Chief Engineer; reports directly to the SMT Lead
- Responsible for the complete technical deliverable meeting customer requirements, of a subcontractor subsystem line replaceable unit (LRU) to NG (Complete system - hardware, software, test etc. package)
- Identifies, owns, and is responsible for the resolution of technical design blockers between major subsystems Subcontractor and NG
- Recommends technical path forward for blockers to the SMT Lead and SLP-A Chief Engineer in conjunction with the NG Technical teams & subcontractor counterparts
- Integration between SMT, NG Global Supply Chain, and NG Engineering teams for Engineering Change Proposals
- Coordinating between Systems Engineering, PM&P Engineering, Software Engineering, Design Engineering, Mission Assurance / Quality, and program management.
- Leads technical evaluation of subcontractor engineering change proposals
- Reviews and provides feedback on all technical subcontractor Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL) submissions
- Understanding technical requirements trace from Prime SOW (Statement of Work) to Subcontractor SOW (SSOW)
- Travel required up to 25%-50% of time

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Job Qualifications
You’ll Bring These Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of relevant experience, 7 years experience with a Masters, or 4 years experience with a PhD
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an Active DoD Secret security clearance with an in-scope investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Ability to understand engineering challenges, coordinate with NG Engineering team in identifying paths for resolution, and driving cross-functional engineering execution
- Ability to take complex technical challenges, decompose the information into chart packages, and briefing Program Management and the Chief Engineering Office on status and recommended path forward for technical resolution
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and development life cycle
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft suite of tools (Powerpoint, excel, word, etc.)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have
- Experience with subsystem line replaceable units (LRUs)
- Experience interfacing and working directly with a subcontractor and/or customer focal on DoD Programs
- Strong hardware and/or software integration experience, such as software engineering or embedded systems, HW/SW integration, etc.
- Experience with Parts, Materials, and Processes (PM&P) compliance, ensuring parts selection and approval to meet contract specifications and functional requirements
- Experience with Supplier Statement of Works (SSOWs)
- Experience with SDRLs/CDRLs
- Experience with CAMEO/Model Based Systems Engineering, System Specification requirements and DOORs, NX/CAD/Electrical Modeling, or Common product lifecycle management (CPLM) systems
- Experience with adjudicating, dispositioning, and responding to Correct Action Requests (CARs), internal CARs (iCARs), or supplier CARs (SCARs)
- Experience with cost plus DoD contracts
- CAM or Earn Value Management System (EVMS) experience
Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
