Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced rail systems engineer for work on various rail & transit projects in NY/NJ/PA. This person will work in collaboration with the Rail & Transit management team serving as Senior Project Manager and technical lead on systems design for complex design-build projects. Additionally, they will help grow the business and develop the technical depth of the organization, as well as oversee client development and relationships.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee advanced conceptual and preliminary engineering design (or design review) activities for, systems, signaling, communication, power, vehicles, and other physical elements of projects. (Activity to be supported by other technical staff and subconsultants.)

  • Project management of rail(road) design and program management projects. This includes oversight of all technical, financial and administrative functions and responsibilities with a project.

  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings for rail/transit systems design projects.

  • Provide staff with expert technical guidance and assistance on projects. Identify training when needed.

  • Assist in value engineering, quality control, and constructability reviews.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of client relationships.

  • Participate in the marketing of specific clients and projects, including preparation of proposals and participating in interviews for projects of various delivery methods (design-bid-build, design-build, etc.).

  • Assist the Rail & Transit Sector with building and maintaining a strong railroad systems team. Assist in the identification, recruiting and retention of top notch, experienced staff for the systems team.

  • Interface with FTA, FRA, various railroad owner and operators, and other public agencies involved in rail/transit projects.

  • Other assignments as needed. 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or similar techinical field required. 

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or other relavent Systems Engineering certifcations from agencies such as MTA, NJTA, SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, etc.

  • Experience and technical knowledge of rail systems (signals, communication, power) is required.

  • The ideal candidate will have approximately 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in a similar systems engineering capacity.

  • Successful candidate will have a history of developing and maintaining effective business relationships with clients and peers.

  • Demonstrated success in growing a group or division is desired.

  • Ability to commute/embed in a project office within the State of Pennsylvania when required.

  • DBIA and/or PMP certifications (preferred but not required).

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve challenging problems.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $153,600 - $230,400 annually for this position and local market. We recognize that each candidate brings a unique set of skills, experience, education and competencies to the table that will be reflected in our offer. As such, the job title and ultimate compensation for this role will be thoughtfully aligned with the depth of your experience, the breadth of your skills, and the genuine enthusiasm you bring to the position.
