CONTEXT | THE ROLE

As a Senior Product Designer, you will be deeply embedded in the operations team, responsible for iterating on current platforms that are live at present. You will look beyond simple aesthetics to solve complex user experience problems, ensuring that the product evolves to meet changing user needs and business goals.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, QA, and other stakeholders, to manage all aspects of the design lifecycle. This role requires a deep understanding of user-centered design, the ability to work within established design systems, and the foresight to anticipate and resolve usability issues to keep product iterations on track.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES | THE WHAT & THE HOW The Essentials

THE ESSENTIALS

Live Platform Iteration & Design Execution:

  • Analyze user feedback and data from live platforms to identify friction points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Execute high-quality UI/UX designs, from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring feasible and impactful iterations.
  • Monitor and track design progress, identifying and resolving potential usability issues to ensure timely and successful release cycles.

User Research & Validation:

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions on existing live products.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to inform design strategy and prioritize features that drive user engagement.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and quality assurance, to ensure effective collaboration and communication regarding design implementation.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing regarding design best practices.

Stakeholder Management and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for design-related discussions, understanding client requirements, expectations, and feedback.
  • Provide regular design updates to clients and stakeholders, articulating the "why" behind design decisions and maintaining a strong client relationship.
  • Ensure that the design scope is clearly understood and documented and that stakeholders are aligned with the delivery expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for future product growth and UX enhancements with the relevant client.

Quality Assurance & Design Consistency:

  • Ensure that design deliverables meet the highest quality standards and align with client expectations and brand guidelines.
  • Maintain and evolve the product’s design system to ensure consistency across the live platform as it scales.
  • Conduct thorough design QA processes throughout the development lifecycle to ensure the final build matches the design intent.

FINTECH AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience designing products within Fintech or technology-driven startup environments, where agility, innovation, and speed to market are critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead product-focused design initiatives — from ideation through to launch and iteration — with a deep understanding of how technology and user experience intersect in digital products.
  • Evidence of working in fast-paced, scaling organisations, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining delivery excellence.
  • Experience collaborating with product owners, developers, and technical leads to align business objectives with product strategy and customer needs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in product design (UI/UX), with a strong portfolio showcasing work on complex web applications or software platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and collaboration platforms (e.g., Miro, Zeplin).
  • Proven expertise in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) environments and experience working alongside development teams in iterative cycles.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams through the design process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with complex information architecture and user flows.
  • Strong data literacy, with the ability to use analytics to evaluate product performance and inform strategic design decisions.

What We Do

At Platform45 we promote ideation, we collaborate, we “iterate-iterate-iterate”, and above all, we build things that matter. More and more we are seeing software becoming an integral part of any business wanting to do better, grow faster, and offer their customers “one source of truth”. We know the power of incredible software and the potential it has to change the world, we’ve been at it since 2008 building platforms for fintech start-ups, mining giants, pioneering entrepreneurs and telecom companies. Behind our culture is an all encompassing passion to share the agony and the ecstacy in building our client’s vision. Our greatest stories started out as an idea and a dream. Those dreams became market leaders such as Howler and Resource Guru. Our name hints at ‘The Singularity’ - the moment that will trigger an explosion in technological advancement. It is our silent-nod to push the tech-envelope every single day. We want more for our clients and so we do more. Because we believe in the power of technology and its capacity to unleash change that can make the world a better place.
