Senior Power BI Developer

Job Brief:
We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade dashboards that turn complex data into clear business decisions. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in Power BI and DAX with strong storytelling skills, and is fluent in leveraging AI tools to accelerate every stage of the development workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced Power BI dashboards with a focus on UX quality and report performance.
• Write and optimize complex DAX measures, including time intelligence and performance tuning on large datasets.
• Translate business requirements into KPI-driven, story-led dashboards that drive decisions.
• Implement row-level security (RLS) and role-based access controls aligned with enterprise governance.
• Build and consume enterprise data models (star/snowflake schemas, tabular models), not Excel-based BI.
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver iteratively.
• Continuously improve report load times, refresh efficiency, and overall semantic model health.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience in enterprise environments.
• Advanced DAX proficiency, measures, time intelligence, query optimization, and variable-driven calculations.
• Proven track record of optimizing reports against large datasets (millions of rows, complex models).
• Strong grasp of dashboard UX, visual hierarchy, and business-focused storytelling around KPIs.
• Hands-on experience implementing RLS and role-based access in production Power BI deployments.
• Solid experience with enterprise data models, tabular models, star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers.
• Daily, practical use of AI coding assistants (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) for development, debugging, and documentation.
• Comfort using AI to draft and refine DAX, M queries, and SQL, with strong judgment to validate, test, and improve AI-generated output.
• Curiosity and self-driven adoption of new AI tools as they emerge, with a track record of integrating them into delivery workflows.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, or Azure Data Services.
• Familiarity with DataOps practices and version control for BI artifacts (Git, deployment pipelines).
• Background working with consulting or client-facing delivery teams.
• Certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-500.
