STV is seeking a Senior Overhead Catenary Design Engineer with directing experience to join our Systems department at our Owings Mills, MD office.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) for rail and transit infrastructure projects
Direct multidisciplinary teams in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for rail electrification projects
Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
Review and approve design calculations, technical drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with industry standards
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff
Oversee system integration efforts between OCS and other rail systems including traction power and signaling
Support business development activities through proposal writing, client presentations, and scope definition
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
15+ years of experience in Overhead Catenary System design, with at least 3 years in a lead or directing role
Deep understanding of OCS components, load analysis, structural support systems, and relevant codes and standards
Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OCS-specific software
PE license strongly preferred; ability to lead design teams and manage client interactions required
Experience working on major transit or rail projects across different project phases (conceptual through construction)
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
Compensation Range:
