As a Sr. Manager Application Engineering you are responsible for the application ownership, development delivery, and support for value streams. Manages a team, including hiring, directing, mentoring, and assigning work.
Develops and coaches' teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manages risk within the teams you oversee.
Responsibilities

  • Coaches and mentors team members. Supports individuals to achieve their individual development goals. Utilizes Agile and Lean practices to identify and solve systemic issues.
  • Consults with management in the analysis of short- and long-range business requirements and recommends innovations.
  • Utilizes tools to support data-driven decision making. Identifies and removes blockers to enable the team to meet business goals.
  • Manages software ownership and development from initial concept through continuous improvement.


Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in Application Development
  • 2+ years of People Management


Preferred Qualifications

  • The ability to understand the big picture/why of the product and have influence over it.
  • Understand technology needed to support your product and provide direction on that product's capability.
  • Have enough knowledge of architecture and design to influence or challenge team's designs
  • Lead or guide design process for complex solutions.
  • Experience researching the latest methodologies and patterns for product/application design and continually look to innovate.
  • You stay up to date on the latest industry trends in infrastructure, reliability, security, quality, and DevOps and applies that knowledge to work.
  • A thought leader in risk, compliance, quality, security, reliability and DevOps practices and influence the strategic direction within teams and across Discover.
  • Understand the technical challenges facing the team and can articulate plans to overcome them.
  • Ensure your teams understand and follow key development practices, such as paired programming, test-driven development, CI/CD automation.
  • Frequently participate in team delivery activities to maintain your craft.
  • Guide teams to work autonomously and independently deliver product outcomes.
  • Understand and influence the product's vision and goals by articulating what's possible with technology.

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $125,500.00 to $211,500.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
