Position Purpose:

The Marketing Strategy team leads the development of insight-driven strategies that shape how we show up in the market and where we focus to drive growth. This includes identifying strategic opportunities, defining key marketing priorities, and developing multi-year visions and roadmaps. The team leads the annual planning process, sets short- and long-term goals, and supports in allocating resources to the highest-impact initiatives. They work closely with partners across the organization to align marketing strategies with business objectives—using data, customer insights, and market intelligence to guide decision-making and build strong business cases for future investments.

  • Market & Competitive Intelligence: Track industry trends, emerging tech, and competitor moves. Share insights and recommend strategic responses.
  • Strategic Initiative Evaluation: Define high-impact marketing strategies, build business cases, and assess success potential. Use insights to evaluate and prioritize initiatives.
  • Strategy & Roadmap Development: Craft multiyear strategic plans and annual priorities; lead planning sessions and offsites
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive alignment with enterprise initiatives by partnering with Merchandising, Online, CX, and Pro teams through planning sessions and strategy forums
  • Strategic Storytelling: Develop narratives and materials for senior leadership presentations, including Board and Officer meetings

  • 50% – Strategic Projects & Initiative Development
    Lead major marketing strategy initiatives, build business cases, and drive execution

  • 15% – Cross-Functional Alignment
    Collaborate with teams across the enterprise to align marketing strategies and priorities

  • 15% – Annual & Multi-Year Planning
    Support planning cycles, helping define marketing priorities and long-term roadmaps

  • 10% – Market & Competitive Intelligence
    Monitor trends and competitors to inform strategy and identify opportunities

  • 10% – Executive Communication & Strategic Storytelling
    Develop materials and insights for senior leaders, including Board and Officer-level presentations

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This Position typically reports to the Sr Director

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less 5% to 10% of the time.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
     

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
     

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience in marketing strategy, business planning, or brand management or in professional services (e.g., strategy consulting supporting Marketing organizations)

  • Minimum of 6-8+ years of relevant work experience

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using customer insights, market research, and performance data to inform decisions.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership 

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functionally

  • High degree of drive and personal ownership

  • Comfort with framing and addressing ambiguous challenges

  • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism   

Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
     

Preferred Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a master's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
