This role is responsible for driving the company’s long-range financial planning process, building and maintaining the enterprise-wide financial models that underpin strategic decisions, and providing analytical leadership across C Spire’s most consequential strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a technically rigorous financial strategist with a track record of building models that drive enterprise decisions and translating long-range plans into clear executive narratives. This person combines deep financial modeling expertise with the strategic acumen to evaluate competing investment priorities and the communication skills to influence senior leadership with data-driven insight.
This role reports directly to the VP of Finance. It is a high-impact Corporate FP&A role — centered on enterprise financial modeling, long-range strategic planning, and cross-functional oversight of C Spire's strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
What You Will Do
In all your duties, you will take a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to managing every detail to perfection and delivering desired results.
Financial Modeling & Strategic Analysis
Own and continuously enhance the enterprise financial model, including integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow projections used to support Board presentations, strategic planning, and capital allocation decisions.
Build scenario and sensitivity analyses that stress-test key business assumptions, quantify downside risks, and frame trade-offs for senior leadership decision-making.
Provide financial analysis and decision-support for major investment decisions, M&A activity, and capital deployment priorities — translating complex data into clear, executive-ready insight.
Develop rigorous business cases for strategic initiatives and capital projects, clearly articulating expected financial return, risk-adjusted outcomes, and strategic rationale.
Long-Range Planning & Forecasting
Lead the enterprise-wide annual budget and multi-year strategic planning process, coordinating inputs across all business units and consolidating into an integrated financial view aligned to corporate strategy.
Drive monthly and quarterly reforecast cycles, translating operational updates into forward-looking financial implications and proactively surfacing strategic risks and opportunities to the VP of Finance and senior leadership.
Maintain a driver-based planning model spanning revenue, cost, headcount, and capital — enabling scenario analysis, resource prioritization, and long-horizon financial outlook for the enterprise.
Partner with business unit finance leads to ensure functional plans roll up cohesively into consolidated company targets, maintaining alignment between bottom-up inputs and top-down strategic direction.
Strategic Initiative Oversight & Performance Reporting
Track and report on the financial performance of C Spire’s strategic initiatives — monitoring investment-to-plan status, milestone progress, and realized vs. projected financial returns.
Develop and maintain enterprise-level KPIs and financial metrics that connect strategic priorities to measurable outcomes, enabling leadership to track performance against long-range targets.
Synthesize financial trends, initiative performance, and forward-looking indicators into executive-level reporting packages for the VP of Finance, CFO, CEO, and Board of Directors.
Support Board of Directors, lender, and investor materials by providing the financial narrative, modeling, and analysis that communicates enterprise strategy and financial trajectory with precision.
Strategic Planning, Infrastructure & Process Excellence
Continuously improve the quality, speed, and reliability of the company’s planning and modeling infrastructure — reducing cycle time and increasing the analytical depth available to senior decision-makers.
Establish and govern the financial assumptions, data standards, and modeling conventions used across all planning processes, ensuring consistency and auditability enterprise-wide.
Drive adoption of planning technology and automation to centralize reporting, eliminate manual processes, and enable real-time financial visibility across the enterprise.
Leadership
Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and build analytical capabilities within the team.
Foster a culture of accountability, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement consistent with C Spire’s values.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration, or a similar field
7+ years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance roles, with demonstrated experience in enterprise financial modeling, long-range planning, and supporting C-suite or Board-level decision-making.
Experience directly managing finance professionals and interfacing with senior and executive leadership.
Advanced financial modeling capabilities, including integrated three-statement models, discounted-cash flow and returns analysis, scenario modeling, and driver-based planning architectures.
Proven track record of translating financial analysis into actionable business insights — not just reporting numbers, but influencing decisions.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to present complex financial information with clarity and confidence to non-finance audiences.
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with financial planning platforms, data visualization tools, and accounting systems preferred.
Telecommunications or technology industry experience preferred; experience supporting strategic planning processes, M&A due diligence, or enterprise transformation initiatives a strong plus.
Minimal travel required for periodic internal stakeholder engagements.
