The Role

Design, develop, implement, and sustain industrial automation and robotics solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, safety, and digitalization across operations. Serve as the technical expert in control systems, robotics, industrial networks, OT cybersecurity, and continuous‑improvement initiatives supporting maintenance, processes, and production.

What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)
  • Control & Robotics Engineering
Design, program, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial robot systems for both new and existing equipment; develop control logic and coordinate commissioning of automation and robotic cells.

  • Industrial Networks & OT Cybersecurity
Configure and maintain industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus), ensuring availability and redundancy. Apply industrial cybersecurity best practices, including access control, segmentation, backups, and patch management.

  • Digital Asset & Documentation Management
Maintain backups, robot routines, drawings, and technical documentation. Ensure proper traceability and documentation of process data, alarms, and operating conditions.

  • Operations Support & Reliability
Provide second‑ and third‑level technical support to maintenance, processes, and operations. Develop condition‑based maintenance routines for robots and automated systems; participate in audits and risk assessments (HAZOP, LOTO, SIL).

  • Advanced Control & Visualization
Implement advanced PID, cascade, and feedforward control strategies. Design intuitive HMI/SCADA interfaces with KPIs, alarms, trends, and traceability features.

  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Propose and evaluate technologies such as IIoT, edge computing, machine vision, AI, and automated diagnostics. Analyze bottlenecks, energy use, and process variability to recommend automation improvements.

  • Integration with Process Engineering
Ensure control systems meet operational requirements (pressure, temperature, flow, mixing). Adjust logic with process engineering for functional upgrades, recipe changes, or performance improvements. Lead or support validation activities and engineering modifications.

  • Training & Capability Building
Train technicians, operators, and engineers on operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and proper use of automated and robotic systems.

What Success Looks Like
  • High availability and stable performance of automated and robotic systems.
  • Secure, reliable OT network infrastructure.
  • Accurate and well‑maintained backups, documentation, and process data.
  • Improved throughput, quality, reliability, and reduced failures through automation enhancements.
  • Operational teams capable of safely and effectively using automation systems.
Core Competencies
  • Advanced PLC, HMI, SCADA, and fieldbus programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens preferred).
