OverviewWe’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Inland Marine Technical Claims Specialist to handle our most complex Builder’s Risk, Contractor’s Equipment, and Motor Truck Cargo claims. In this role, you’ll work with substantial autonomy, influence key financial outcomes, and collaborate closely with senior leadership, underwriters, TPAs, and specialty program partners.
How You’ll Make an ImpactLead the adjudication of highly complex inland marine claims at the highest authority levels.
Conduct thorough investigations, analyze coverage, and recommend solutions for undefined or multifaceted issues.
Monitor TPA performance and support specialty program oversight.
Manage litigated files, set accurate reserves, and negotiate complex settlements.
Communicate emerging trends to senior management and underwriters.
Drive files to optimal financial outcomes through disciplined case management and creative problem-solving.
Maintain clear, professional documentation and correspondence.
Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
7+ years adjudicating commercial inland marine claims with exposures of $100,000+.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and insurance designations.
Ability to obtain a NY General Adjuster License (or reciprocal TX/CA) within 3 months.
Experience with TPAs, MGAs, and specialty programs preferred.
Strong business acumen and sound independent judgment.
Exceptional investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proven ability to execute, stay solution-focused, and deliver results under ambiguity.
Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to challenge conventional thinking.
Proficiency in MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.
Base salary varies by location; ranges include:
Chicago: $148,100–$177,700
Los Angeles / NYC: $161,800–$194,200
Includes annual bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package.
