The Senior HR Generalist Role:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Human Resources Generalist to support our HR operations across multiple states. This role is critical in managing various HR functions, including benefits administration, compliance, recruiting, workforce planning, and data analytics, with a focus on supporting our retail environment characterized by a high-turnover, hourly workforce. The ideal candidate will bring extensive HR expertise and work collaboratively to enhance our HR practices without direct supervisory duties.
This is a flexible hybrid position, with the expectation that a few days a week are spent in the office or in the operations facilities.
What are the day-to-day responsibilities of the Senior HR Generalist role?
HR Generalist Functions:
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws across all operating states by staying up-to-date with legal changes and implementing necessary policy adjustments.
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting processes for both hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Address employee relations issues promptly, providing guidance and resolutions in line with company policies. Attend, participate in, or lead employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
- Manage the termination and offboarding process for all employees, including performing exit interviews and reporting on feedback as appropriate, reporting on trends in turnover and retention, and serve as the primary point of contact for post-employment activities - COBRA, employment verifications, unemployment claims, etc
- Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures that align with company objectives.
Workforce Planning & Data Analytics:
- Utilize HR metrics and data analytics to forecast staffing needs and support strategic decision-making.
- Analyze turnover rates and collaborate on developing retention strategies.
- Prepare and present HR reports and insights to the Director of Human Resources and other stakeholders.
Retail and Operations Environment Support:
- Provide HR support tailored to the unique needs of a high-turnover, hourly workforce in a retail setting.
- Implement employee engagement initiatives to improve morale and retention in operational facilities
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with store managers, department heads, and the HR team to ensure cohesive HR support across the organization.
- Own employee onboarding and orientation, including HRIS setup, conducting training sessions, and surveying participants to ensure a 90% satisfaction rating after 90 days
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development Manager on training initiatives and employee development programs.
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to employees at all levels, offering expertise and support.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Own quarterly projects as discussed with HR Leadership
- Performs other HR functions as required to support the HR function

- Collaborative: Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels and keep them organized and moving forward.
What are the requirements for the HR Generalist role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent experience.
- Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience
- Experience in a retail or operations-heavy environment with a significant hourly workforce is highly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and data analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
