Senior Front End Engineer - Japan

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and own core frontend product features with a strong focus on performance, security, and scalability.
2. Lead frontend architecture improvements and product refactoring to ensure code quality and long-term maintainability.
3. Collaborate closely with North America teams to deliver features quickly and support AI-related product initiatives.
4. Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, best practices, and technical leadership.
5. Participate in oncall rotation during Japan business hours to handle urgent production issues when the North America team is offline.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
2. 3+ years of web development experience with strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript fundamentals.
3. 2+ years of hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular (preferred) or React.
4. Familiarity with web testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver) and demonstrated experience writing end-to-end (E2E) test cases, test suites, and unit tests for front-end code. Experience extending and optimizing existing applications and performing performance tuning.
5. Experience with Node.js server-side development and database interface development.
6. Strong English reading, writing, and communication skills.
7. Must be a resident of Japan.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Familiarity with annotated JavaScript such as TypeScript, as well as related technologies (e.g., SCSS, mixins).
2. Experience with data visualization and proficiency in SQL programming.
3. Background in Java/Spring programming with knowledge of back-end web development and big data analysis.
4. Proficiency in using version control and DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.
5. Experience working in Agile environments, including managing sprints and backlogs in Jira.

Compensation: Annual salary range of JPY 8MM-10MM, commensurate with experience.
