What is The Role

Elastic Agent Builder is our latest, recently launched platform that empowers developers to rapidly build and deploy powerful, production-ready AI agents directly on top of Elasticsearch—leveraging the world's most sophisticated search relevance, vector database, and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities. With intuitive context engineering primitives, natural language-to-ES|QL translation, customizable tools, secure data access, full observability through tracing and logging, and seamless integration into any environment via APIs or Kibana's conversational interface, you can ship reliable, data-grounded agents in minutes that chat with enterprise data, reason effectively, and take intelligent actions. As an Engineering Manager for this high-impact product, you'll shape the future of AI agent development at Elastic, tackling exciting challenges in agentic workflows, hybrid search, personalization, and scaling context-driven intelligence for the world's largest organizations—joining a team at the forefront of solving real-world enterprise AI problems with innovative, open, and performant technology.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Drive technical vision and execution for the Elastic Agent Builder platform, focusing on agentic workflows, hybrid search, personalization, and scaling context-driven intelligence.
  • You will lead and manage a dedicated team of engineers. You’ll perform frequent 1on1s, deliver quarterly reviews, lead in “All Hands” discussions, onboard, coach and mentor new and existing team mates.
  • You will collaborate with other Tech, Team, and Product leads over a product roadmap. You’ll act as a crucial and communicative part of an engaged and upbeat team.
  • You will help navigate customer experiences with our extraordinary, empathetic support teams. You’ll work with all types of people and roles.
What You Bring 
  • Experience managing a team of people at scale. You will have experience with flexible people management, rapid growth, servant leadership, and become comfortable with performance management.
  • Experience with remote management. You will know how different remote management is from in-office management and how to optimize for a distributed environment.
  • Experience as an individual contributor in an engineering role. You have shipped quality code into delightful applications, and know how good teams build systems.
  • Bonus: Experience in building and shipping AI-based products that operate reliably at enterprise scale.
  • Measured and articulate written and spoken communication skills. You work well with others and can craft concise and expressive thoughts into correspondence: emails, issues, investigations, documentation, onboarding materials, and so on.
  • A curiosity about learning new tools, workflows and philosophies that can help you grow. You can function well in an environment that drives towards change. This role has tremendous opportunities for growth!


Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

$159,800$252,800 USD
The typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is:
$191,900$303,500 USD
