Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.
Job Summary: We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer with a strong foundation in data infrastructure and orchestration, proven in disciplined, structured environments, to take ownership of the full lifecycle of data and model-serving pipelines—from ingestion and transformation (including video) to deployment, monitoring, and optimization. You’ll design and maintain scalable, high-performance data and inference systems, enforce rigorous governance standards, and ensure our pipelines and infrastructure operate with enterprise-grade reliability.
Responsibilities:Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, implement, and maintain production-quality data transformation and pipeline code, with clear documentation for reproducibility.
- Refactor and optimize existing pipelines for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Build and manage databases — including large-scale video data storage, indexing, and retrieval.
- Develop and orchestrate ETL/ELT workflows (Airflow or similar).
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Deploy and maintain workloads in Docker/Kubernetes environments.
- Configure and manage CI/CD automation for seamless releases.
- Serve as system administrator for pipeline-related infrastructure: user management, permissions, storage, and security controls.
Guardian of Codebase & Data Governance
- Maintain strict standards for code quality, testing, linting, and version control.
- Enforce data governance — versioning, schema enforcement, compliance documentation.
- Champion reproducibility and operational discipline across all workflows.
• 5+ years of professional data engineering experience in a disciplined environment (enterprise, finance, healthcare, defense, or similar regulated/structured industry).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field.
• Strong experience with Python and C++ in production systems.
• Proficiency in data pipeline orchestration (Airflow or similar).
• Strong database design and optimization skills.
• Experience deploying on Docker/Kubernetes with CI/CD automation.
• Proven track record as a self-learner who proactively seeks out best practices.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and design effective solutions.
• Detail-oriented — meticulous in code quality, documentation, and system configuration.
- TensorRT optimization for deployed models.
- Exposure to PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience with video data processing pipelines in production.
- Familiarity with basic machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, deep learning) or willingness to learn to support model deployment and monitoring tasks.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- This position is located in our Torrance facility.
