Job Title: Senior Category Buyer - Hydraulics Components
Salary: £59,900 - £74,000 depending on experience
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Contract: Permanent & full time
As a Senior Category Buyer in Hydraulic Components, you are responsible for directing the development, and/or communication and implementation of a category/platform based regional, or worldwide sourcing strategy. You are responsible for managing policies, agreements, source catalogues, and special purchasing programs, and supporting specific Product line(s), and NPI programs. This position is also accountable for the liaison with the corresponding Site and Category/Platform based Buyers.
What you will do:
As a Senior Category Buyer , your accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Developing, managing and executing the category strategy managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs.
  • Recognizing the potential for cost decreases, inventory reductions and quality improvement, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
  • Acting as the liaison between the organization and the supplier to communicate information explicitly, while considering production demands and suppliers' conditions.
  • Documenting the suppliers' performance on time sensitiveness and production; maintains a strong relationship with suppliers.

What You Can Demonstrate:

  • Negotiating:
    • Ensures negotiators have awareness of complementary yet diverse interests. Protects own position, while demonstrating willingness to achieve win-win and highlights and addresses lack of progress.
    • Successfully completes significant negotiations, both internal and external, whilst details the risks of negotiation breakdown from each party's perspective.
    • Identifies similarities and differences in position and assesses impact on discussions.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Advises others on the organization's supplier relationship management practices.
    • Builds consensus, resolves conflicts, and applies techniques to achieve influence and impact results with different suppliers in the organization's supplier network.
    • Coaches juniors on selecting, evaluating, and managing suppliers.
    • Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes in supplier relationship establishment and management.
    • Evaluates the impact of SRM on the organization's different financials and refines organizational processes for establishing and maintaining supplier partnerships.
  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Develops and explains strategic sourcing best practices and rationale for the organization and industry and participates in monitoring the execution for all stages of the strategic sourcing process.
    • Trains others on strategic sourcing in multiple and diverse environments.
    • Designs and develops standard supplier agreements and procurement policies with standardized terms and conditions.
    • Works with complex strategic sourcing components including but not limited to negotiations, contracting, and continuous process improvement and implementation.


Top Candidates Will Have :

  • Related degree
  • Proven leadership excellence working within a team in the design and development field will be considered.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and buying components or systems relating to the automobile, on-highway or off-highway industry.
  • Experience demonstrates recognized as a leader who can devise sourcing strategy and provides long-term direction and vision for a global division while setting high quality standards and delivering cost effective solutions in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
