Team Overview
Luminar Technologies is seeking a Senior Build Engineer to work with the DevOps and feature teams to implement and maintain the core tooling around the C++ and python build system. This includes analyzing the current Bazel build system, proposing and demoing new build tools and technologies, implementing and continuously improving our state of the art, monorepo based build system.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain tooling environment including Bazel build tools and scripting for C++ and python projects
- Develop and maintain GitLab and GitHub CICD pipelines
- Improve developer productivity by maintaining integration with other tools such as IDEs
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of industry experience in Bazel for C++ projects
- Expert level knowledge of Python and its package-management tools (pip, poetry, uv, etc.)
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
- Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- In depth knowledge of the C++ build and linkage process
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools (prometheus, ELK stack, Grafana)
- Experience with Kubernetes, GitOps, and infrastructure as code
- Able to work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries
- High energy personality, with a strong and demonstrable work ethic
