We are looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer to join our Application Services team in our Hungarian office. You will handle challenging data problems on a large scale, contributing to the world’s best ecosystem for teaching and learning.
What you will do:
- Build and enhance company-wide platform services like our API Gateway, cloud-based file system, and notification service.
- Work with diverse technologies: utilize a tech stack that includes Java, Node.js, Go and Python.
- Leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) for infrastructure provisioning, cost reduction, and traffic scaling.
- Write testable, performant code scalable to tens of millions of requests per day.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams through internal meetings and regular communication.
- Mentor and inspire other engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Required qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Java and proficiency in multiple programming languages.
- Experience with cloud-hosted, high-traffic applications, particularly using AWS.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
- Demonstrated excellence in programming, debugging, architecture, and DevOps — our engineers design, build, and deploy their own code.
- Have strong communication skills and work well with others.
- Be proactive and take responsibility.
- This is an in-office team, working three days a week from our Kelenföld-based office. The incoming colleague is also expected to work 1-3 days per week in the office.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience implementing API gateway solutions.
- Interest in learning new programming languages and technologies.
