Role Overview

The Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring the brewery operates efficiently and in compliance with all labor agreements. This role manages daily and weekly scheduling for a large, unionized hourly workforce, balancing business needs with employee preferences and contractual obligations. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, thrives on details, and has strong organizational and technology skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and distribute weekly labor schedules for production, packaging, and warehouse teams.

  • Partner with department leaders to forecast labor needs and align staffing with production demand.

  • Ensure all scheduling complies with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), including seniority, shift assignments, and overtime rules.

  • Update and maintain scheduling data in Excel and Workday (and other brewery systems).

  • Track attendance, shift swaps, and vacation requests while maintaining accurate daily records.

  • Communicate schedule changes promptly and clearly to both management and employees.

  • Support site leaders with analysis of scheduling trends, coverage gaps, and optimization opportunities.

  • Serve as a key contact for union workforce scheduling questions and maintain professionalism in all employee interactions.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience in manufacturing or operations scheduling strongly considered.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required (pivot tables, formulas, and data organization).

  • Experience with Workday, or other workforce management tools a plus.

  • Previous experience in a union environment preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and take ownership of process improvement initiatives.
