The transition to electric vehicles is expected to transform how our customers operate fleets. Driven by economics, policy and/or legislation, more than 30% of fleets will transition to electric across the different vehicle classes in the next decade. This translates to 3M vehicles by 2025 and 11M vehicles by 2030 in our North American, European, and Asian markets.

Prologis has a unique opportunity to leverage its real estate, development platform, renewable energy expertise, and customer base to build a market leading turn-key Electric Vehicle Charging business.

The VP of Commercial provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the organization's sales and business development functions. As the senior commercial leader of an emerging business, you will be accountable for the development of the commercial strategy and organization, as well as setting and achieving business development and sales objectives.

You will serve as a key member of the leadership team and a trusted partner to our operations and finance leadership. This role is the principal customer-facing role in the organization, reporting directly to the SVP, Global Head of EV Charging.

What’s needed in order to do that:

  • Lead all commercial aspects of business model development including market assessment and segmentation, value proposition development, financial analysis, partnerships and (internal and external) channels.
  • Align the commercial organization’s objectives with business strategy through active participation in strategic planning, strategy development, forecasting, resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Lead all aspects of Product Development, including Marketing, from ideation to through development and market entry. Given the complex nature of a full turn-key EV offering this will include technical and commercial aspects of product development as well as working closely with third party solutions providers to compile a suite of separate solutions into a holistic and scalable customer offering.
  • Create and remain accountable for commercial organization design, including job roles, sales channel design, and sales resource deployment.
  • Build and lead the commercial team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
  • Establish and govern commercial and sales processes and systems, including a performance management system and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Develop standardized practices to develop and evaluate projects; prepare projects for submission to the investment committee.
  • Deliver on objectives and targets including but not limited to sales volume, profits and market share.
  • Identify and deliver on synergies between the EV and energy business within Prologis.
  • Lead learning and development initiatives and provide stewardship of sales and sales management talent, establish learning and development objectives essential to the sales organization’s success, oversees the effective delivery of training and development programs.
  • Accountable for the commercial organization budget. Proactively assesses existing support investments, including those in technology, training, and administrative support. Ensures support investments yield productivity benefits consistent with established objectives.
  • Establish and maintains high-impact peer-to-peer relationships with customers and prospects.
  • Support the achievement of strategic objectives critical to other functional areas within Prologis as required.

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred. Master's degree is an added plus
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a business-to-business sales environment, preference in the distributed energy, renewable energy, and/or EV charging industry
  • Exceptional interpersonal, financial, and business acumen
  • Competency in understanding and explaining technical and engineering solutions
  • Track record of scaling commercial teams through growth
  • High degree of fluency in sales methodologies
  • Ability to understand, calculate, and present complex financial analysis to customers
  • Excellent customer service and organization skills
  • Interest in innovation, energy solutions contracting, and passion to serve others and make a difference
