The IMO team is responsible for but not limited to:
Provide support to all business stakeholders impacted by the integration through a regular cadence of huddles, communication and program governance in order to centralize risks, issues and progress tracking
Set program standards for revenue and cost synergy identification and tracking for the business on behalf of MassMutual
Oversee the Transition Services Agreement (TSA) migration plan, billing, and wind down
Manage financials of corporate services, deal costs, and business expenses including inter-company billing between MassMutual and acquired or impacted companies
Communicate post-close program updates, issues, and escalation items to impacted businesses and the executive leadership team
Coordinate planning, communication and execution of post-close tactical and strategic initiatives
Work with executive and senior leaders across MassMutual to realize integration value by helping to drive strategic decision making
The Opportunity
The Strategic Consultant will be responsible for working with key revenue and expense-driven stakeholders to establish, evaluate, plan, and ultimately oversee execution of revenue and expense synergies (cost reduction/avoidance) driven by the integration. This role will be responsible for coordinating ideation of synergy opportunities and documenting strategic levers and quantifiable data to support synergy recommendations. This includes presenting synergy recommendations to senior and executive leaders, developing actionable milestone plans to drive toward synergy targets and working with the broader IMO team on prioritization and execution management. This role will provide clarity to stakeholders on the scope and activities of the value capture program and their roles and responsibilities. They will also ensure synergies are trackable by the internal strategic planning department (SPD). This will be a highly motivated, high-performing role that will be responsible for helping MassMutual realize the value of a strategic acquisition. Candidate must have high aptitude for strategy mindset and comfort influencing leaders through cultural ambiguity.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the executive leaders and senior leaders to establish revenue and expense synergy program and targets across the integration
Build relationships and influence with senior and executive leaders across MMSD, Product, MMFA, Operations, Marketing, Technology and other stakeholders to drive critical conversations and decisions
Help conduct and document in-depth business due diligence on strategic levers to be outlined for executive decision making on strategic optionality
Liaison with leads of revenue and expense synergy work and SPD to ideate synergies, create plan, value propositions and prioritize work to drive toward agreed upon synergy targets and initiatives
Provide analysis to workstreams on synergy opportunities and plans
Proactively identify and report out on any gaps, lapses, or opportunities to help progress synergy value realization
Create synergy run rate, forecasting and realization dashboards and reports to support specified strategic goals against outlined milestones
Evaluate potential operating and financial models aligned with strategic goals and work with the lines of business to bring ideas to fruition
Work across the integration and with IMO program management to develop short- and long-term strategic initiatives, business cases and investment spend requests for integration
Assist IMO organization in overall periodization of work given the volume of initiatives against time and resource constraints
Collaborate on preparation of executive level presentations and larger meeting support
Assist with and provide appropriate documentation to program communications and steering committee materials
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years of related experience in corporate strategy, insurance product leadership or M&A strategic consulting
Bachelor's degree in related field
Clear track record of leading/driving key initiatives working with cross functional teams to successfully identify and execute strategic efficiencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task and work as part of a collaborative team
Experience and confidence with communicating, influencing and presenting to senior and executive leadership
Ideal Qualifications
Master's degree in related field
Individual has knowledge of life insurance products, distribution channels, marketing and how these levers affect revenue generation
Seasoned and highly motivated individual capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
Able to garner support and gain momentum to bring new ideas through to implementation
Strong thought leader, strategic thinker and problem solver
