Sr. Business Development Manager Workforce Skills

Summary

The Sr. Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for growing Pearson Workforce Skill solutions to key employers by prospecting and increasing the existing account base. This is a direct sales role targeting organizations (companies, health plans or non-profit organizations) within the United States that have employees or members who could benefit from achieving a GED credential, as well as utilizing tuition reimbursement funding with our Accelerated Pathways offering. AP is a non-traditional college experience that give you the freedom to earn your bachelor's degree while supporting a flexible schedule, low-cost post-secondary solution. Pearson's Workforce Skills provides employers and health plans with turnkey solutions to enable their workforce and members to earn their GED credential, associate degree, bachelor's degree and master's degree along with skills based upskilling credentials. The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for managing key large accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction, and contract renewals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sales and new account acquisition (70%)
  • Promote the GEDWorks, Accelerated Pathways and Workforce Skills programs to the business community and develop the required network to increase sales
  • Work with marketing team to increase awareness of Workforce Skills solutions. Identify, qualify, contact, and close potential new accounts
  • Identify additional business opportunities or program needs/enhancements that can support the requirements of the business community
  • Establish relationships with key decision makers within the L&D, HR, and other relevant departments.
  • Lead submission of any proposal/solutions for prospects
  • Negotiate contract with new accounts
  • Attend industry conferences or trade shows as assigned
  • Account Management (25%)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with client personnel through formal and informal interactions
  • Service, retain, and grow a defined book of customers
  • Manage customer satisfaction for key assigned accounts. Work with a cross-functional team to ensure delivery of the program and increase in awareness and adoption of the program within the company
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

  • Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree
    • 8 years+ sales or business development experience required
    • Proven achievement of sales success in your current or most recent sales role
    • Experience selling in B2B market, to large customers, preferred


    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of the consultative selling process
    • Solid business experience, acumen, and professionalism in the B2B market
    • Relationship management skills a must
    • Must be a good listener
    • Persuasive and influential communication skills
    • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills


    Travel Requirements: 10%
