About the job
The Red Hat Federal Law Enforcement team is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join us in Washington DC or northern Virginia. In this presales role, you'll help us deliver our enterprise-class open source solutions and meet the needs of our key customers. You will be our customer-facing advochelp our customers use their existing IT infrastructures while building additional capabilities allowing for today's digital transformation needs. You'll need to have a balance of solid technical and soft skills. Candidates outside Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia will not be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Cooperate with sales and technical delivery teams to bring our customers the best solutions from the Red Hat portfolio including platform, cloud, management, automation, and application development
  • Discover and analyze customers' business and technical issues; apply appropriate Red Hat's solutions to address their needs
  • Provide presales technical support for the development and implementation of complex services and solutions
  • Provide trusted thought leadership both internally and with our customers
  • Use deep product and industry knowledge to provide technical expertise to the sales associates and customers through sales presentations and product demonstrations
  • Follow standard practices and procedures for analyzing situations and data


What you will bring

  • U.S. citizen
  • 5+ years of experience working in sales engineering or other equivalent presales role
  • 10+ years of experience working in IT architecture, consulting, or equivalent supporting
  • strategic accounts
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a record of developing relationships at engineering, program management, and executive levels
  • Experience working with modern development practices like DevOps or continuous integration (CI)
  • Great work ethic; ability to work in a field environment with frequently shifting priorities
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines


The following are considered a plus:

  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with the Department of Justice or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
  • Active Top Secret clearance or willingness to be submitted for Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with prioritizing multiple customer requirements simultaneously
  • Red Hat technology certification like Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator
  • (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or similar
  • Certified in other technologies like Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, etc.
  • Experience with automation including scripting with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Python, PowerShell, etc.
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
