About the job
The Red Hat Public Sector Sales team is looking for a Sales Manager to lead the U.S. State and Local Government and Education (SLED) Central team. In this role, you will guide a team of sales associates in promoting the success of a multi-offering go-to-market strategy for Red Hat. You'll report to the Vice President and Head of SLED Sales and you'll be closely involved in developing and implementing growth strategies and a comprehensive solutions approach to reach strategic customers for Red Hat. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Develop, coach, and mentor the Sales team to grow business and promote effective sales strategies
  • Motivate and inspire your team while taking on competitors as Red Hat gains market share in enterprise markets
  • Guide the sales team to achieve quarterly and annual revenue and growth targets by establishing sales goals and monitoring achievement
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other members of the SLED leadership team and contribute to the strategic and tactical success of Red Hat's public sector business and the company as a whole


What you will bring

  • 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in an enterprise technology organization
  • 5+ years of experience selling to state, local, and higher education markets
  • Deep knowledge of IBM
  • Proficiency in profit and loss (P&L) management and marketing strategies that contribute to success
  • Demonstrated ability to use personal knowledge, processes, and solutions selling strategies and methodologies to meet revenue growth objectives
  • Relationship-oriented with a professional appearance and proven ability to build credibility at all levels within a customer organization, including C-level executives
  • Effective approach to managing your team of sales professionals
  • Experience managing approximately a $50M license sales team or $20M subscription sales team is a plus
