Splunk is seeking a highly motivated, inherently curious, results-oriented individual to join our dynamic pre-sales team. You will be the primary technical advisor for your customers, and their technical advocate within Splunk. (This is not a post-sales technical account management role).

  • Partner with the regional sales team to develop strategic and technical account and territory plans.
  • Demonstrate Splunk's platform to customers on-site or remotely, with a focus on value-based differentiators and continual discovery.
  • Build long-term growth and adoption plans that help advance customer business priorities.
  • Execute deeply technical Proofs of Value as required.
  • Respond to RFIs/RFPs.
  • Own the technical sales relationship with your customers, and earn the right to advise them. Building relationships is a key part of the job, but you also need to be technical.
  • Own the technical solutioning and win strategy for multiple large opportunities.
  • Own the coordination for a matrixed account team involving many specialists at Splunk.
  • Frequent technical learning to keep up with the changing customer technology landscape and Splunk's own evolving portfolio.

IMPORTANT We can teach you the technology, coach you on soft skills and educate you on processes. You should have a strong sense of self-motivation, an insatiable curiosity about what "is possible" with technology, the desire to work with an awesome team and a positive, fun-loving attitude. Proactivity in your work, demonstrating ownership of your relationships and accounts, and a drive to succeed in the face of obstacles are essential to success in this role.

  • 5+ years related experience selling and supporting software products to IT organizations.
  • Experience positioning the business value of technology to large enterprises and engaging in complex sales cycles. This is not an entry-level sales engineering position.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in a relevant part of the Observability or Security markets. e.g. IT operations, Security operations, DevOps, infrastructure software, cloud, monitoring, networking, storage, systems administration, software development, application management, DevOps etc.
  • Dynamic presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and an ability to communicate complex ideas to all levels of the business.
  • Ability to be organized and analytical. Able to eliminate sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Comfortable working for a dynamic, ever-evolving organization with a fast-growing customer base. The ability to take change and ambiguity in stride is important. Fast-growing companies do not stand still
  • Desire to learn, grow and be a part of our expanding and dynamic team
  • Available to travel 25-30% to visit prospects and customers in-region and occasionally across the country.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or substantial relevant on the job experience
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Strongly desired
  • Experience selling SaaS to large enterprise accounts
  • Experience with on-prem to cloud migrations
  • Good knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP
  • DevOps experience

Nice to have
  • Knowledge of the modern big data landscape. Data lakes, warehouses, pipelines, orchestration etc. OR
  • Experience with modern application development - Docker, Kubernetes, git, Jenkins, Terraform, Istio etc. OR
  • Cybersecurity technical sales or consulting experience
