The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Platform Technical Account Manager to join us in the Central U.S. In this role, you will work with a small set of enterprise customers to provide architectural guidance and implementation advice for the Red Hat infrastructure portfolio to meet their business needs. This is not a sales role, you'll be a dedicated customer engagement associate and a member of the Red Hat engineering and technical support teams. As a Platform Technical Account Manager, you will provide a premium-level support that builds, maintains, and grows long-lasting customer loyalty by tailoring support for each of our customers' environments, facilitating collaboration with their other vendors and advocating on their behalf. Well-qualified, home-based applicants throughout the Central U.S. will be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business, preferably in the U.S. Central Time Zone.
What you will do

  • Gain understanding of customer technical infrastructures, hardware, and offerings; serve as a customer advocate within Red Hat
  • Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to proactively identify and prevent issues
  • Gain understanding of customer technical infrastructures and environments, hardware, and offerings
  • Partner closely with engineering, development, product management, and technical support teams to debug, test, and resolve issues
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers about their current and future Red Hat offerings
  • Manage customer use cases and maintain clear and concise case documentation
  • Manage and grow customer relationships by delivering attentive, relationship-based support
  • Travel occasionally to visit regional customers, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of Linux or UNIX system administration experience; preferably in a system administrator, solution architect, consulting, or professional services role; Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) qualification is a plus
  • Prior experience in a technical support, customer success, development, engineering, or quality assurance organization
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and grow existing enterprise customer relationships by delivering proactive, relationship-based support
  • Capacity to convey complex information to customers clearly and concisely
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and projects with focus on detail
  • Competent comprehension of enterprise architecture and strategic business drivers
  • Practical experience with a variety of hardware vendors


The following are considered a plus:

  • Technical knowledge of the Linux kernel and Linux file system
  • Experience with system management, cloud, or server virtualization
  • Knowledge of Platform-as-a-Service cloud solutions and containers
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline, preferably computer science or engineering
