Job Summary:

The Individual and Family Plans National Sales Manager is a critical role to Cigna's IFP success to drive growth. This role will be responsible for achieving sales goals by managing our regional sales team that supports our external broker partners. This leader is responsible for developing our broker strategy focused on the recruitment, training, and overall broker experience and work closely with their team to ensure flawless execution. They will be expected to grow market share in current markets along with developing strategies to expand and grab share in new markets.

Core Responsibilities:

The National Sales Manager will focus on the following priorities:

  • Lead a team of regional sales positions, ensuring top-level service and market penetration.
  • Responsible for development and execution of our broker strategy, setting priorities and making recommendations to meet growth/retention objectives. This will include but not be limited to articulating the broker channel needs to achieve our growth (i.e., investments, staff/resources, tools).
  • Coaching and holding the team accountable for using appropriate sales tactics, as well as important sales processes such as use of IFP broker specific CRM (Salesforce) and appointment software.
  • Oversee overall broker recruiting processes and compliance needs to ensure brokers are setup to sell Cigna plans.
  • Represent Cigna to our key strategic partners
  • Ensure teams have the necessary tools and resources to execute on broker strategy and deliver exceptional service to the broker community
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to set and achieve sales/retention targets
  • Depending on market needs, travel is required to present company capabilities, support customer/broker needs and generate new business opportunities for regional sales team.
  • Handle large volume of incoming calls and emails, especially during contracting and enrollment season, and provide timely, accurate responses.



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience desired
  • Individual Medical and/or Dental product experience strongly preferred
  • Sales will be made through independent brokers/consultants, so having established broker relationships is important for this role.
  • History of consistently delivering sales results
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external partners, driving positive energy through influential leadership.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, executive presence
  • 60% overnight travel required



This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
