About the job
The Red Hat Public Sector Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for an experienced, enterprise-level Java engineer to join us as a Middleware Technical Account Manager to join us in the U.S. eastern time zone. In this role, you will provide architectural guidance and implementation advice to enterprise customers for the Red Hat Application Services portfolio of solutions and provide a high level of engagement that builds, maintains, and grows long-lasting customer loyalty. You'll also help debug, quantify, and test issues escalated by customers for Red Hat's middleware technologies and partner closely with associates from our development engineering, product management, and technical support teams to quickly resolve issues. Applicants residing in the eastern U.S. are preferred, but those in the central time zones will be considered.
What you will do

  • Develop relationships with key business and IT stakeholders and become an expert on a customer's implementation by understanding their top business goals and priorities
  • Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to identify and prevent issues
  • Gain an understanding of each customer's technical infrastructure and environment, hardware, and products
  • Partner closely with Red Hat's engineering, product management, and technical support teams to debug, test, and resolve issues
  • Perform initial or secondary investigations and respond to online and phone support requests
  • Engage with Red Hat's solutions engineering teams to help develop solution patterns, based on customer engagements, as well as personal experience, that promote platform adoption
  • Deliver key portfolio updates and help our customers successfully implement upgrades
  • Manage customer use cases and maintain clear and concise case documentation
  • Build a sense of trust with customers and serve as their advocate within Red Hat
  • Regularly contribute to the Red Hat knowledge base and share best practices with peers and colleagues
  • Participate in internal projects and initiatives and serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for specific technical or process areas
  • Travel, as necessary and when needed, to visit customers and attend events within the region


What you will bring

  • 5+ years of professional Java and JEE coding and development experience
  • Ability to manage and grow existing enterprise customer and partner relationships by delivering high-quality support
  • Development-level experience analyzing and debugging Java and C++ application issues at the language-level, including code development, code review, stack traces, etc.
  • Experience in a support, development, engineering, or quality assurance organization
  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills with a passion for problem investigation and solving
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with business logic and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud solutions is a big plus
  • Experience with ActiveMQ, Camel, CXF, and Karaf and experience with Red Hat Fuse and Red Hat AMQ a big plus
  • Practical experience with Java application platform and application server technologies like JBoss EAP, WebSphere, and WebLogic is a plus
  • Knowledge of JEE platform and experience working on large-scale enterprise Java projects is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline, like computer science or engineering is a plus
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus
  • Active U.S. security clearance is a plus
