Responsibilities
  • Account Executive, Mid-market will report to a Regional Director
  • Act as a primary point of contact and the face of GitLab for our Mid Market prospects.
  • Contribute to root cause analyses on wins/losses.
    • Communicate lessons learned to the team, including account managers, the marketing team, and the technical team.
  • Take ownership of your book of business
    • document the buying criteria
    • document the buying process
    • document next steps and owners
    • ensure pipeline accuracy based on evidence and not hope
  • Contribute to documenting improvements in our sales handbook.
  • Provide account leadership and direction in the pre- and post-sales process
  • Be the voice of the customer by contributing product ideas to our public issue tracker
Requirements
  • A true desire to see customers benefit from the investment they make with you
  • Interest in GitLab, and open source software
  • Ability to leverage established relationships and proven sales techniques for success
  • Effective communicator, strong interpersonal skills
  • Motivated, driven and results oriented
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation and closing skills
  • Preferred experience with Git, Software Development Tools, Application Lifecycle Management

Compensation

You will typically get 50% as base and 50% based on commission. See our market segmentation for typical quotas in the U.S. Also see the Sales Compensation Plan.

For Colorado residents: The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently $76,500 - $114,700 for Colorado residents only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. Disclosure as required by the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, C.R.S. § 8-5-101 et seq.

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

We typically collaborate with the broader customer success team, sales teams & product teams to ensure that the customer is successful when partnering with us. We heavily rely on slack channels, docs, issues for async collaboration. We also initiate meetings at times when we are looking to resolve certain issues or brainstorm in a short time frame.

It also allows me to get some “reverse mentoring” on my communication.
