Job summary
The Red Hat North America Public Sector (NAPS) team is looking for a Market Development Representative to join us in McLean, VA. In this role, you will work with the Marketing and Sales teams to contact prospective sales leads, qualify them, and set appointments for Red Hat's Sales teams and solutions architects. You'll have a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing team and be part of a new strategic initiative within the Sales team.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Follow up on inbound marketing leads from the website, trade shows, and other marketing events to qualify leads and set appointments for Red Hat's sales teams and solutions architects
  • Perform full life cycle management of inbound leads in the assigned territory
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to uncover sales leads in new territories through calls and emails
  • Identify customer business needs and communicate how Red Hat's offerings can address these needs; collaborate with the Sales team on account strategy, demand generation activities, delivery plans, and results
  • Make extensive use of successful prospecting techniques to generate customer interest and provide a targeted value proposition
  • Develop an understanding of Red Hat's technology, offerings, pricing, and subscription model


Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, management, information systems, marketing, communications, or a related field of study
  • Work experience or academic projects in sales, marketing, or information systems
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of sales techniques and systems like Salesforce.com (SFDC) or Outreach
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and learn on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand the needs and issues of our customers and link them to Red Hat's offerings
  • Ability to discuss key industry issues at multiple levels of an organization
  • Motivated with the ability to work under strict deadlines
