Market Development Representative

Overview of Position
The Market Development Representative is responsible for prospecting, researching, qualifying and/or making initial customer contact through various interaction channels such as web, social media, phone and digital tools. This role guides prospects through the sales funnel by providing them with information or answers to inquiries and questions in coordination with marketing channels, programs, and sales campaigns with the primary goal being to communicate and convert contacts to prospects to qualified leads. The Market Development Representative is also accountable for building and monitoring a prospect/lead pipeline to ensure continuous population of immediate and long-term opportunities. This role serves an assigned territory with flexibility for variables in geography and/or customer complexity. The Market Development Representative is responsible for developing product or service knowledge to support customer questions and promote offerings while utilizing sales techniques and product knowledge to meet or exceed established goals.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
  • Conducts research and prepares for market development calls for assigned markets to ensure successful outcomes
  • Makes high volume outbound calls and identifies opportunities to sell solutions (may also communicate via email or WebEx)
  • Listens to customer needs and identifies lead opportunities
  • Actively participates in account sales team calls/meetings with internal and external business partners
  • Documents market development activity in Salesforce and participates in reporting progress as needed

What are the requirements needed for this position?
  • 2+ years of new business/lead generation/qualification experience including experience with high-volume outbound calls required
  • Experience in data tracking in Salesforce.com or similar CRM
  • Experience in knowledgably educating, consulting and ultimately selling based on customer need
  • Must sit in the EST or CT time zone
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Demonstrated experience selling into the healthcare market
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive and energetic phone skills (primarily outbound)
  • Self-motivated, driven
  • Willingness to make high-volume outbound calls
What are the working conditions and physical requirements of this job?

General office demands

How much should I expect to travel?

Occasional travel up to 10% from office locations to customer and/or internal locations.

Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement.
