Our Portfolio presently incorporates several ambitious and growth-oriented operating companies, who provide an array of systems across several sectors, though we are hugely ambitions. In addition to supporting the organic growth of these businesses, we are we are seeking to acquire new business who will work alongside the existing portfolio companies expanding our functional, sectoral, and geographic coverage.

THE POSITION
We are seeking talented individuals to join our M&A team to accelerate our acquisitive growth across our target sectors. With a strong reputation (Corum Group's Top Acquirer and Forbes most Innovative Company), substantial cash flow, and material debt capacity, Volaris Group and our partners across Constellation Software are poised to continue dominating the VMS sector.

The Group M&A Business Development Manager is core to our growth aspirations in our Food Service, Hospitality, and Retail sectors. Reporting to our acquiring Group Leader you will represent the group within our target markets and sectors where you will lead the charge in identifying and contacting business owners, building relationships, and further developing potential acquisition opportunities. This includes participating in the strategic planning and execution relating to selecting target markets and sectors. The responsibilities of the role may increase with time (and success) and will build a team of Business Development Associates to further accelerate our acquisition efforts.

Job Description:

The Group M&A Business Development Manager is a key member of the M&A team. You will be primarily responsible for the following:
  • Identifying and analyzing businesses within a defined sector and region to determine appropriate acquisition target candidates based on specific company characteristics.
  • Develop and conduct prospecting campaigns within our operating vertical markets to attract potential acquisition targets and identify interesting technology businesses through email, outbound calling, attendance at trade shows and conferences.
  • Continually manage, maintain, and develop our Salesforce CRM proprietary database of acquisition targets and contacts to build a future pipeline of potential acquisition targets.
  • Have a Hunter attitude and be creative in exploring new or different ways of contacting decision-makers despite firewalls.
  • Creating a rapport with the C-Suit or business owner through demonstrating your understanding of software businesses, and their operation, and use experiences to gather detailed information from the target.
  • Build personable relationships with acquisition targets, selling the unique Group focused technology strategy and the buy-and-hold forever acquisition methodology.
  • Maintain long term dialogue with potential targets to maintain future acquisition opportunity.
  • Lead conversations towards the signing of NDAs, obtaining operational data, and initiating M&A conversations.
  • Gather, review, and present target company financial information to Group leadership and M&A execution team.
  • Build and manage a team of Business Development Associates.


Required Competencies / Experience:

We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, a critical & creative thinker, influential, diplomatic, and business savvy. You must understand the broad organizational goals and be able to execute on all the necessary steps toward driving rapid portfolio growth.
  • Energetic, personable, driven, self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability and confidence to initiate and develop relationships with senior executives, lawyers, brokers, and investment bankers, and build relationships with these individuals.
  • Strong data management & analysis skills.
  • Very well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work variable hours when required.
  • Strong attentive listening skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to flex personal style to adapt to different personalities.
  • Persuasive and engaging presentation skills.
  • Confident self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude.


Beneficial Skills / Experience:
  • Salesforce CRM tools.
  • Financial reporting and analysis.
  • Previous M&A experience (particularly deal origination) would be advantageous, but not necessary.
  • An interest in software technology / business particularly "SaaS".
