The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balanced growth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "what's next" for Cox and our customers. We explore emerging businesses + products with the goal of de-risking them for commercial launch.
Cox Communications' New Growth & Development group is currently seeking a team member who will play an important role in the solutions design of our Cox Private Networks business line, which is developing next-generation private network solutions to enable secure, reliable connectivity for commercial and government customers and enable the devices and applications which run on top of these private networks.
This individual will be responsible for both designing and implementing the Network and its' associated Solutions (e.g. endpoints, applications, usage models, tie in to customer network) for our Private Network product set - working with both our internal SMEs and our external partners (e.g. OEMs, SIs,) to deliver a full end-to-end solution.
Additionally, they will work alongside the broader Private Networks team to provide pre-sales support, proposal creation, technology and use case analysis to define the overall architecture and approach for a given client. Our Private Networks approach is highly consultative and this team member will be deeply involved in customer discovery and managing key customer relationships.
This role will be both strategic + tactical and nature we are seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset who can work within ambiguity and assist in building a high-growth & high-potential business from the ground-up.
Responsibilities:
Develop or lead others in developing innovative solutions to solve complex customer pain points.

  • Cox's Private Networks solution set could include:
    • Multiple different spectrum types - both licensed and unlicensed
    • Different architectures and approaches including point-to-point links, point-to-multipoint networks, mesh solutions and private cellular (LTE/5G)
    • Selection and configuration of endpoints and/or applications that sit on top of these networks - for example, video cameras, IoT sensors, tablets/handhelds or industrial PCs- to deliver a complete end-to-end solution
  • Work closely with the internal Cox teams to leverage our existing assets and knowhow when possible
  • Work closely with 3rd party support partners and vendors that provide System Integration services or specialized knowledge for their products
  • Research and recommend vendors and products to use in our solutions for new and evolving use cases and innovative applications
  • Onboard and integrate the vendors and their products into our flow; Provide ongoing management of these partners & third-party relationships to develop and/or deliver effective Private Network technology solutions.


Act as a key member of the Sales & Solution Delivery function within Cox Private Networks to design, deliver and support the appropriate solution for each customer opportunity.

  • Work closely with local Cox teams and customers on the ground to better understand, frame and address customer connectivity issues and needs leading to the solution development and sales of Private Network solutions
  • Approach the delivery function hands on to understand the technical requirements for deployment and integration first hand
  • Transfer the deployment requirements into our Project Management and Support teams to collectively define process, function and methods for different implementations Cox builds out
  • Partner with the Network Management and Support team (within the Private Networks BU) to develop solutions and align on a plan that allows for effective support levels and SLA


Develop and maintain positive relationships with key and senior stakeholders across CCI.

  • This role will require close collaboration with other functional areas within Cox - this individual will need to work closely with a cross-functional team including sales, finance, legal, engineering, marketing, operations, support, IT, Cox Business, and others to design and deliver a seamless connectivity solution
  • Assist in building consensus around and support for the Private Networks strategy across the greater organization.


Provide reporting and customer dashboards needs for the Network + Solution Support function

  • Provide input to define the appropriate KPIs needed for reporting of customer support metrics
  • Design solutions that are commensurate with the needs and capabilities of Cox customers


Aid in the assessment and valuation of new business opportunities and potential threats to sustainability of current business plans.

  • Understand the evolving technology landscape and developing technology that may adequately solve for customer needs via partner discovery and close collaboration with internal wireless experts and external wireless technology providers - especially as it pertains to network design, spectrum options and endpoints.
  • Serve as a thought leader in the Private Networks space: Work with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations, etc. to understand, influence, and communicate technology trends and requirements to support Wireless Private Network products and services.


Qualifications:
Minimum:

  • BS in with a minimum of 8 years of experience required in related discipline (i.e., wireless design, network design, solution deployments, simulations, testing and validation), OR Masters' in a related discipline + 6 years of experience,
  • Experience in wireless/telecommunications vertical, preferably with related experience in both licensed and unlicensed wireless technologies
  • Experience leading projects through design & implementation for communications networks.
  • Strong and demonstrable project/process management experience and large team facilitation skills
  • Strong team player and ability to collaborate with colleagues, navigate relationships in growth verticals and the broader technology ecosystem
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity, ability to learn new facts and concepts quickly and comprehensively, and to synthesize and communicate effectively to others in both verbal and written forms
  • Ability to operate independently to navigate tight deadlines, juggle a long list of competing priorities, and operate in a dynamic environment without compromising sharp attention to detail
  • Intellectual horsepower, desire, and proven ability to learn new domains and technologies quickly, energetic "can-do" attitude and commitment to excellence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically to develop and launch growth solutions that support our strategic vision


Preferred:

  • Technical proficiency in wireline + wireless networking
  • RF, microwave and mm Wave familiarity - equipment, antennas, links, installation, simulation and design tools
  • Experience with fixed wireless or point-to-multipoint distribution systems
  • Familiarity with surveillance, video analytics and/or AI/ML systems - especially with network requirements for proper operation
  • Back-end network knowledge for integration into existing solutions, customer LAN or Cloud/Edge environments - theory and practical equipment knowledge
  • General familiarity with 3GPP private LTE/5G (CBRS) solutions including equipment, antennas, installation, usage, SIM management and endpoints
  • Familiarity with IEEE based Mesh solutions
  • Understanding of related industries in the ecosystem and how they impact the wireless network space, e.g., Smart City, Broadband Expansion, IoT, Edge Computing, Neutral Host, Industry 4.0
  • Experience in start-up businesses and/or end-to-end new process development/process management experience, with an entrepreneurial spirit
