Position Summary:
The Inside Sales Specialist supports Account Managers and field Sales in pursuing and developing prospects, advancing opportunities through the sales funnel, and through closing and ultimately on time delivery. Works closely with Account Managers, customer service, and other sales support resources, as needed, to effectively support pre-sales and after-sales activities. Directly handles sales opportunities (generally with smaller or self-serve customers) within assigned customers and prospects. Starting from online or other lead generation activities, qualifies sales leads, primarily by telephone prior to hand off to an account manager or field sales engineer.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Partners with Account Managers as part of the sales team. Duties include direct customer technical support, quote preparation, pipeline development and maintenance, and support in closing orders. Follows up on all written communications (mail, fax, email) to ensure that customer needs were met, and to assess interest and impact.
- Works with additional PTI resources as needed to support pre- and post-sales customer needs.
- Conducts thorough qualification process for incoming customer leads, typically originating from the PTI web site, advertisement, or other social media forum. The goal is to assess leads, and pass on appropriate "high impact" leads to the field sales team, or to drive personally if part of an inside account. Disposition low yield leads as appropriate.
- For dedicated "inside" accounts, discovers specific customer requirements by assessing the business situation and technical requirements for each opportunity. On assigned opportunities qualifies sales leads, creates the opportunities in CRM and prepares offers. Determines how to best work with each customer to find a solution that meets their needs.
- Actively manages order backlog to ensure orders ship on time and any issues are addressed proactively.
- Works as part of an Inside Sales Team, providing back-up to other team members to ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained.
- Understands PTI products, features and benefits as they relate to specific customer needs. Presents products to individual contacts when appropriate.
- Documents all opportunities, contacts, customer information, presentations and call results in the company CRM system.
- Within legal and ethical boundaries, monitors competitive activity and initiatives, ensuring that the Account Manager and PTI marketing is fully aware of suspected competitive activity.
