About the role:

As a Sales Engineer at Samsara, you’ll be part of a diverse team of SE’s who work together to solve real-world problems for our customers. Each day you’ll talk to customers about how Site Visibility can help our customers monitor all their locations leveraging Samsara’s unique connected operations cloud technology. You will help customers gain actionable insight with AI-enhanced camera streams and intelligent search tools. As a successful SE, you will develop a thorough understanding of the Samsara solutions from the application of IoT hardware and sensors, hands-on hardware installation strategies, managing data collection over carrier networks, presenting a robust cloud infrastructure, and building third-party system integrations (via our open API) to ensure the best technical solutions are presented to Samsara customers. As a Sales Engineer at Samsara, you’ll bring that incredible combination of business acumen, technical depth, strong interpersonal skills, and be highly motivated to help customers solve real-world problems.

In this role, you will: 

  • Remotely Interact with customers, actively listening and asking insightful discovery questions to better understand a customer's business imperatives and uncovering ways that Samsara Site Solutions can help improve their business.
  • Have a passion for architecting technological solutions that solve our customer's business challenges and produce meaningful business outcomes.
  • Operate at the intersection of Technology and Business and document and share best practices with customers and internally.
  • Think strategically and partner with Inside Account Executives and Product Managers to exceed sales goals by becoming a Trusted Advisor with customers, and own the responsibility of achieving the Technical Win.
  • Be competent on the command line, and comfortable operating across many areas of technology, including Cloud, SaaS, Networking, Security, Video, Access Systems, Mobile, IoT, and AI.
  • A willingness to step into the breach with an entrepreneurial customer obsession and desire to win. It may mean setting up a custom proof-of-concept demo, or demoing beta features, and creating the documentation where none exists.  
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years experience interacting with customers in a pre-sales, customer success, or customer/product support role.
  • Superb communication and presentation skills, and a deep sense of ownership.
  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of cloud software, networking, security, video, IoT & AI.
  • Enjoy working at a very fast pace and have a passion for educating, training, designing, and building technological solutions that solve business problems.
  • A growth mindset, always eager to innovate and learn.
  • Thrive in a camera-on culture and convey a strong remote presence and persona. Expert with Zoom, remote demos, and highly skilled in working remotely. 

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Some experience in architecting customer solutions in one or more of the following areas: Video Surveillance, Access Systems, Servers, Storage, Networking, etc.
  • Some Experience with customer evaluations and multi-site deployments.
  • A good understanding of networking and security fundamentals. 
  • A track record of success in a remote customer-facing role.
