Global Cloud Sales Overlay Manager

EDB just introduced the industry leading Cloud solution for Postgres - BigAnimal - a fully managed PostgreSQL solution from the database fanatics at EDB.  

The EDB Cloud Sales Global Manager for the Cloud Sales Overlay team will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Cloud Sales and Marketing. This role is responsible for driving global sales with a growing organization to expand BigAnimal revenue with target customers and prospects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop an overlay sales strategy and execution to meet and exceed Big Animal’s (Customers and Prospects) targets for revenue & customer satisfaction.
  • Drive a pipeline, establish a forecast cadence and define goals for each sales rep to be financially successful.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance sales team to maximize revenues and provide leadership for the Cloud Sales team.
  • Expand awareness of Big Animal, build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities, and focus on business value.
  • Establish a business plan aligned to the strategic customer base across the assigned accounts, with clearly defined and measurable goals and strategies.
  • Drive key deal structures that outline Big Animal’s value and are integrated into the sales negotiations, customer pricing, and contractual agreements with the sales team.
  • Develop senior-level customer relationships with the sales team for EDB’s strategic customer base and ensure your sales team is doing the same.
  • Model integrity and ethical behaviors every day.
  • Drive the EDB culture, values, and leadership principles. Share your management philosophy with your team through coaching and hands-on actions.

Skills And Experience

The Director of Cloud Sales will have 5+ years of experience leading a global team preferably focused on cloud infrastructure with a passion for consultative cloud enterprise software sales.

  • 5+ years of global people management experience.  Proven leadership with strong communication skills, analytical skills, detailed understanding of EDB technology and industry trends.
  • Deep product market expertise (Cloud Infrastructure, with DB being a plus), including customer needs, competitive landscape, and key trends in the market.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
  • Proven history attracting, retaining, and developing new leaders and Sales talent overall.
  • Strong leadership & interpersonal skills, coaching skills, and cross-group collaboration, with attention to operational excellence.
  • Executive communications, engagement, and influence.
  • Consistently achieved and/or exceeded sales quota objectives.
  • Technical aptitude and eye for business strategy.
  • Travel Required 25-50%


  • Relational database experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, & SQL Server)
