Role Summary

Atomwise is looking for a Director/Senior Director of Business Development to join our team and work remotely from anywhere in the United States. Reporting to our CFO, this position offers a great opportunity for someone who is hands-on and enjoys a fast-paced, high growth environment.

The successful candidate will lead business development strategy efforts and will work closely with key partners in the organization.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a direct role in planning and executing business development activities. 
  • Lead the execution of a diverse array of business development transactions, including both platform discovery deals and asset licensing.
  • Work with Finance to build informative deal models. 
  • Build pitch decks.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other key stakeholders on sourcing, evaluating and negotiating deals for the company.
  • Interface with potential partners, investment bankers and other key stakeholders. 
  • Partner on expanding existing relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Life Sciences.
  • 10 – 15 years of relevant experience in business development in companies in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. 
  • Demonstrated experience closing large partnerships and strategic deals.
  • Experience in analyzing and understanding markets and correlating that analysis against the Company’s offerings to determine the best revenue/proposal opportunities.
  • Established network of contacts in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.  
  • Able to communicate clearly (in writing and verbally) and collaborates effectively with leaderships, scientists, drug developers and G&A colleagues. 
  • The ideal candidate is someone with deep experience who prioritizes collaboration, excels in a fast-paced environment, is results-oriented, and is motivated to deliver excellence consistently in their work. 
  • Excellent scientific judgment, project management and negotiation skills.  
  • Solid understanding of scientific concepts and technologies in the life science arena, including the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process.
