The Director of Business Development oversees the sales function at M Benefit Solutions with the primary goal of driving new client revenue in Executive Benefits and institutional life insurance. This position is responsible for identifying/ developing new business and marketing opportunities, building partner relationships, owning sales tools/ materials/ research to share with producers, conducting sales presentations to end clients, and collaborating across the firm as the expert on Executive Benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the BOLI and COLI Consulting Services teams to drive a high performance culture centered on integrity, accountability and best-in-class service to Member Firm partners and end clients
  • Provide support (research; consultation; materials; direct sales help) to M Firms/JVPs with goal of closing new sales/new revenue to meet targets (all markets in non-qualified executive benefits - COLI, BOLI/CUOLI, ICOLI)
  • Lead the firm's new business strategy and goal-setting by tracking markets and emerging trends, evaluating opportunities, and assessing risk
  • Develop marketing plans and promote services/ capabilities to M Firms/ JVPs
  • Maintain/improve current marketing materials and develop new materials and thought leadership pieces
  • Maintain/improve current pre-sale tools, proposal templates and presentations and develop new tools
  • Manage trade association relationships and convention presence (including ICBA, ABA, FMS)
  • Manage Strategic Partner relationships
    • Liaison for all executive benefits/COLI referrals
    • Work with COLI Specialists firms to help close sales
    • Develop new strategic partnerships
  • As the leading firm expert on Executive Benefits, conduct regular presentations to sales groups, colleagues, COIs, etc
  • Work with M Benefit Solutions Senior Leadership on strategic and operational issues
  • Coordinate creation of client proposals with technical product experts, advisors, client administration, legal, etc
  • Maintain accuracy of dashboards, sales pipeline and metrics in Salesforce
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to provide revenue projections and update forecasts/ budgets


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of seven years of directly-related, progressively-responsible work experience in life insurance or financial services
  • Contemporary and in-depth knowledge of institutional life insurance products in the market
  • Experience in nonqualified executive benefit design and mechanics
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Member Firms, Industry Partners, Carrier home office executives, and M Team members
  • Driven self-starter with a passion for relationship building/ networking, ability to work autonomously and proven negotiation skills
  • Experience in business process analysis and design
  • Ability to create and implement new processes and procedures
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to independently follow through
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Well-developed computer skills including strong proficiencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc

  • Hybrid work environment offering a blend of virtual/work from home and onsite days designed to support flexibility
  • Normal office environment/desk assignment
  • Extensive use of PCs, computer terminal, display, keyboard and mouse
  • Extensive close work with documents, publications, databases and spreadsheets
  • Moderate travel (up to 20%)
