Title: Technical Product Sales Consultant

Location: Within the M&T Bank Commercial footprint

Overview:

Our Technical Product Sales Consultant are Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the delivery of Consolidated Payables through best-in-class product solutioning that leverages the payment processing, reporting and connectivity capabilities of M&T Bank. Key focus of this role is to assist Treasury Management (TM) Sales and Commercial Card (CC) Sales to sell deals while deeply engaging in the largest and most complex opportunities in their market to secure new revenue that drives the overall profitability for the Commercial Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The role requires a deep understanding of Treasury Services and Commercial Card connectivity solutions. The TPSC brings a robust payments process knowledge to identify, create and pitch profitable, client-tailored solutions through a deep understanding and competitive solution intelligence to help drive deal strategies. The TPSC requires an understanding of RFP systems and multiple payment instruction file formats. The TPSC plays a key role in leading business case and re-engineering discussions with clients and prospects to position consolidate payables solution set that offers end-to-end operational benefits. TPSC work closely with Implementation, TM, and CC in this pursuit. The TPSC will work closely with a Project Manager who will coordinate all mtgs, establish timeline, duties, and deliverables.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand and maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Ensure efficient and timely resolution of issues arising from testing or implementation to ensure expected performance. Ensure issues, incidences and questions are documented, reported as resolved as required.
  • Coordinate and manage post-implementation by getting feedback, resolving any issues and completing a debrief including actual to plan for timeline and financials.
  • Assist in developing expense and capital budgets and employee appraisals.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.



Education and Experience Required:

  • Combined minimum of 8 years' combined higher education and Treasury/Commercial card sales and product management/development experience, with a focus on commercial card and consolidated payables product set
  • Strong technical expertise, payments industry knowledge and consultative experience to support complex solutioning and redesign sessions with clients and prospects
  • Strong executive level presentation skills, including ability to consult and sell at the C-level
  • Exceptional ability to understand client and prospect needs and turn needs into mandated business through solution-based selling that clearly articulates operational and financial benefits
  • Ability to generate ideas to help coverage teams identify and drive the development of new business
  • Excellent selling and negotiation skills always ensuring the full value of M&T is clearly communicated
  • Team oriented with ability to develop strong working relationships with clients, peers, and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to mobilize internal networks and resources in close coordination to support solution delivery
  • Diligence to maintain up to date and accurate pipeline reports
  • Strong writing and analytical skills to support RFP responses and presentation content
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills



Education and Experience Preferred:

  • MBA.

  • Excellent lateral thinking skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience multitasking for various components of complex projects
  • Prior experience coordinating between applications and business units
  • Prior experience working in a team environment as well as autonomously
  • Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree
  • Subject matter expert in business with knowledge or experience utilizing application/system being supported
  • Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to recognize project milestones and delivery dates
  • Ability to recommend and implement solutions
