Who are you?
Our next BDR is a resilient hustler who is a strong communicator and super tech savvy. This is a consequential role as you'll be the first voice a pool pro hears from Skimmer. This is a great opportunity to hone your sales skills (and we see this role as an ideal training opportunity for you to eventually move into a sales role!)

What you'll do

  • Identify potential Skimmer customers by researching leads and reaching out to them through various channels.
  • Qualify these potential customers through discovery questions and active listening.
  • Educate pool pros on the benefits of using Skimmer to run their businesses (which means you're going to learn Skimmer yourself!)
  • Set up meaningful meetings for the sales team.
  • Be a source of feedback for the sales and marketing teams (make these pros trust you!)

Requirements

Your experience

  • 1+ years working in inside sales, support, customer service, or hospitality
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (you'll be "on the front line," so the ability to connect is important)

Nice to haves

  • An undergraduate degree.
  • HubSpot experience.
  • Prior SaaS or tech startup experience.

Compensation
The role offers base pay plus uncapped variable pay based on achievement of goals.

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Skimmer has the best work-life balance of any company I've worked for. The general working hours are reasonable, and if something comes up in our personal lives that we need to take care of, we are treated with respect and allowed to care for it with no issues. Management shows a flexibility that is greatly appreciated.

What does your typical day look like?

I love coming into our office in west Austin! I average 2 hours of meetings daily, (1:1s, team meetings, production control, recruiting). The core is developing and executing on customer engagement or operational projects. I'm at home to chase my toddler around 5 - I log on in the evening to organize the next day's priorities (no Slack!).

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

When I came to Skimmer I started in customer support. I had a background in product marketing, but was really interested in product management. Leadership feels that customer experts make the best product managers (I humbly agreed), and I was able to transition into that full-time in a few months.

My job is to hire talented people, resource them, and get out of their way so they can pursue Skimmer’s purpose of empowering pool & spa professionals to build great businesses on our platform.
