The Role:

The Business Development Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic partnerships and initiatives to help Newsela accelerate and streamline revenue growth. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and customer success to prioritize, evaluate, and lead negotiations for all strategic edtech, ESA, and related SEA partnerships. You will also support related sales and RFP needs in target regions. Additionally, you will identify and evaluate new market development opportunities within the region, and lead the related business case and business model creation and presentations to executive stakeholders to gain approval.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

This is a highly collaborative and impactful role that can enable Newsela to significantly scale our growth and bring our products to more educators and students. You will be able to generate and lead entirely new initiatives from inception through execution that can shape the future of Newsela’s business, refining organizational best practices in the process. In addition to helping our business grow, you will work alongside an enthusiastic and creative cross-functional team that will understand and inform the edtech landscape.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 3-5 years of experience developing and operationalizing strategic partnerships or programs, preferably in the education space or in management consulting. You have demonstrated the ability to prioritize, source, sign and develop a strategic partnership from start to scale. You find the opportunity to identify and develop new market opportunities to be exciting and are comfortable diving in with little guidance or oversight. You have demonstrated success developing net new strategic partnerships including working with other teams to scope dependencies and requirements, developing financial modeling and business proposals, and defining KPIs to drive success. You are creative and strategic in your approach to solving problems. You’re able to manage complex projects on a tight timeline, and are comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment. Experience in the K-12 education space is strongly preferred.
