The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing partner and customer opportunities within the emerging business of Lyft Delivery. These partnerships spread across a number of industries including food, retail and emerging industries. Success in the role will be pinned on the ability to identify, close and scale the best partners and customers that fit within the Lyft Delivery model. This is a cross functional role that will require close collaboration with Legal, Partner Management, Product, Operations, Science and Marketing.

Lyft Delivery is an emerging business unit and we are looking for a top performer to drive our business development efforts. The ideal candidate is strategic and well informed in macroeconomic realities,  but can also dive deep into different business models. Given the rapid evolution of Lyft Delivery applicants must be comfortable with ambiguity and fast evolving industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, close and scale partners (delivery logistics platforms) and customers (brands that have delivery demand) that fit within the Lyft Delivery mode. Help shape and evolve the model based on industry trends and market fit for Lyft.  
  • Take opportunities from ideation to  contract sign off; hand off partnerships to SPMs to stand up, manage and track partnerships.
  • Provide feedback to Product and Tech team on product improvement needs and new market opportunities
  • Work closely with partners and develop channel sales motions to scalably reach their customer base.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to scale partnerships such as constructing new use cases, pricing models, etc.  
  • Support the development of strategic planning and insights to support sustained growth in our BD business unit (analytics, product, special projects, BD strategy) 
  • Work across Lyft organization and integrate our BD efforts with the company-wide Strategy 
  • Develop and maintain cross functional relationships across the company and act as a connector of different stakeholders within Lyft and partner organizations 

Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field;
  • 5+ years of business development, strategy and/or sales experience
  • Strong understanding and interest in Lyft, delivery and the competitive landscape 
  • Ability to think creatively and develop outside the box ideas to overcome challenges
  • High level of executive presence and strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience scaling partnerships across multiple industries 
  • Excellent communications (written, verbal) and presentation (PPT, delivery) skills
  • Ability to work in matrixed environment with competing stakeholder needs
